Wow, it's been awhile, but I'm not dead...mainly because not V.AXX.ED. ( isn't strange i have to disguise that word from the censor bots?)
I'm going on 71 now. Still up and moving around. But I have gotten into the habit of ordering my foods, etc from my local Walmart with free delivery (I do tip the drivers). So that eliminates one form of exercise...pushing a cart around Walmart in the AC.
We had an unusually rainy springtime here in N.Central TX...I put tomato seedlings out really early, like first week of March. Lost a couple to light freeze nights, but with plastic sheeting most did survive. I've been giving away sacks of tomatoes to friends and my kids lately. But it's all coming to an end with mid 90s every day. Tomatoes STOP fruiting with daily temps above 94. That's a fact. Look it up.!!
Grasshoppers are ramping up, so garden production will dwindle soon here.
Got plans to triple my garden size by spring of '26. More wicking tubs and 2 more raised bed box gardens. Gonna pickup a pickup load of compost and mix up a big batch of "magic dirt".....peat moss, course vermiculite, compost, etc.
They say as you age, you need to have a "purpose in life"...something to urge you forward. I'm genetically LAZY, so I gotta try extra hard.
My hard whiskey daily drinking was tapered down to just cheap wine, a few years ago. Now I've dialed the wine from daily to just sat/Sunday consumption.
And I'm noticing my memory fading. Can't think of simple words, names of things, places. Maybe it's the heavy metals our loving, caring gov sprays over our skies? But old age, and brain cell holocaust actions didn't help. But I had fun getting here..... I think?
Current events? Well, Hopefully we avoided starting WW3 by not following the orders from Netanyahu. The country that has controlled our gov for decades continues to run the show. I like Trump, but not everything he does seems best for the USA. Bondi, Cash and bongino are disappointments, in my opinion.
RFK, is moving slowly, but is doing good things.
Okay enough politics.
The little John Deere 2305 diesel tractor is one my not to recently passed Mother-in-Law had given me a few years ago. She bought it new around 2009, but it had been sitting out in the weather, hood open, for several years. Not running due to lack of maintenance and care. My son picked it up, trailered it to Dallas and has been tinkering on it a few weeks. Many new parts later and nearly $3k in misc costs... free labor.
It's running and usable now. Waiting on new front tire delivery today. New seat, all hydraulic hoses and cylinders rebuilt. Injection pump refurbished, starter rebuilt ... etc, etc.
Only has 140 hours of run time on the clock. And it's a 4x4....with a couple attachments for the PTO. Handy to move compost soil around later.
