My Vehicle History ..46 yrs of car buying and selling

I have been a sucker and wasted money on cars since I was 16 yrs old. My first car was a 1951 Ford pickup that I bought with my own $$ for $165 in 1970. I drove that old flathead V8 for 3 years.

This isn't mine but very similar, color and all.

Over the years since I have owned a crap load of vehicles and lost money on nearly every one of them. I started keeping a list a few years ago, and I don't know how to load an Excel file onto blogger so I just snapped pics and that's what you get. Hope they are readable.

Some guys are into golf, some hunting and fishing. Me? I blow my money on cars that I can't even work on. Not a mechanic here. never was.
I was a Caddy Freak for a long time, but prefer Lincoln Town Cars now. Caddies have become a rich guys sports car, hot rod in the last 25 years. What happened to those huge, smooth, classic, elegant road-hawgs of yesteryear? (see example of '66 Sedan DeVille below - not mine)

Here are a few old pics of my Cads from years past. From about 1981 to 1985.
Here is a plain jane, 6 cyl, 3 in the tree, Chevy half ton I had for a few years.
I'm down to 10 vehicles now. Only 4 of them tagged and insured to drive for now.

This is the one I really want to get back on the road. 1948 Packard. 327 Straight Eight with Overdrive.

Retired and finally living the life with NO DALLAS COMMUTE..!!

Long time No blog, but guess I'll do a short one now.

Officially retired, sold our place in Aledo,TX.....a very hot market in DFW area. Put an ad on Craigslist and a few pics, had a cash buyer in 2 weeks, quick close. Bought a place about 35 miles further west near Mineral Wells, TX.
This is in the Texas Crosstimbers region. Hilly. Rocky. Oak Trees Galore. And tons of history with the Baker Hotel in nearby Mineral Wells. It's been sitting boarded up since the early 1970's....opened up in 1929 just before the Great Depression hit. Amazing building and facility. 14 stories and 400 plus suites. Many famous folks have lodged their...Presidents, Clark Gable, Tommy Dorsey, Lisa Minelli's mom ( brain fart here)....the Three Stooges.....and Bonnie and Clyde had a special room with a secret escape stairwell if the coppers rolled in.
I've figured out how to get access a couple times about 12 yrs ago and climbed to the bell tower . Mostly ravaged by vandals and thieves.

Anyway, wife is high school science teacher at small country town. Entire high school has about 105 students total. No football team, just basketball. She really enjoys the school, kids and administration.

I'll try to post pics in the next couple days, if I can figure out how to shift phone pics to the laptop.

Had a few calls from Dallas area apartment builders with high paying job opportunities, but regrettably I had to decline. With springtime just around the corner, I don't want to spend 3-4 hours a day commuting. I just fiddle with my bird feeders now.
Adios

Judy Garland....!!!! BINGO!!!!
